successful real estate practitioners’ in
and around the areas of the offices
of RE/MAX Regency. It is our goal to keep the local
area real estate agents
informed, directly, of our events and,
goals, as well as provide
some insight on where we see our industry heading.
Additionally, included in our
updates are invitations to attend tremendous
educational opportunities, unequaled in
our local market, every MONTH!
Do you know someone else who
would like to be included on the event invitation list?
Please e-mail me their
information and we will include them in the future. Conversely,
should you
not wish to be included, any
longer, on our
industry update, our
event
invitation and contest lists, please simply reply to this e-mail with
your request – Thank
you!!
Now to
the Update:
Happy New Year!!! Yes, can
you believe it, I said “New Year”!!! 2006 has kicked off
with a bang and NOW
is the time to finalize your goals and set your business plans for
2006, if
you have not already done so. You need your plans and goals IN WRITING
and IN
FRONT OF YOU EVERY DAY.
Please know that we are available to help you
with your goal and business
planning, either helping you to establish them or just
reviewing them with
you. Just let us know!!
We all predicted that 2005 was the year for change and as you know, we saw
MANY
changes in our business last past year. Interestingly, we see no let up
in changes for
2006. In fact, we believe that changes will accelerate over
the course of the next 12
months. You must stay up to date and current on our
industry; this is no time to skip
out on all our educational opportunities.
Read on in this update for those opportunities
and look to our extranet event
calendar. 2006 will be the best ever opportunity for your
business, but it
will be what you make of it!

GROUNDBREAKING –
“The Real Estate Centre”
We have set the name for our
new office complex,
“The Real Estate Centre”. Our
building will house all the
needs of the public, with respect to their real estate needs,
hence the name,
“The Real Estate Centre”. Have
you been by The Real Estate Centre
construction site lately? Don’t have time
to drive by the site? Well, Bill Churchwell,
Director of our IT Division, has
made sure that everyone, no matter where you are in
the world, will have the
ability to see the progress as we move forward on the building
construction.
He has completed installation on an Internet camera where we can all log
in
and see what it happening, LIVE! You can log on to watch for yourself at
www.teamregency.com.
As of this moment, the grade
for the lot is set, and the retainer wall is being installed on
the East side
of our lot. We are now on schedule to be in our new office space by the
mid
to end of summer. Even more exciting, our new Grand Opening is scheduled for
September 22, this year.
More on this, in our future updates.
GET YOUR
LISTING PRESENTATION UP TO DATE
Are you looking for some
great ideas to add to your listing presentation? Several weeks
ago, with the
attendees at the Contract/Brokerage Round Table in Manassas, it was
agreed
that we should take the next upcoming meetings and focus on developing the
best
listing presentation in the industry. Many great ideas were passed
around at last
Thursday’s meeting. The next focus meeting will be on Thursday
February 9th at 10am
in the Manassas office. Will we see you
there?
VIVA, LAS
VEGAS
Are you signed up for
Convention? The “Who’s Who” of Convention Attendees is posted
in the
offices. At last count, we have 28 attending from our company. If you are on
the
fence about joining in on the fun, let me make this simple statement –
sign up and go!
Do you
think you don’t have the time or funds to attend this function? My responses
to
this requires only three words, YOU MUST GO! To put this simply, if you
don’t have the
time or funds to attend, you need more help and training in
controlling your business plan,
your time invested in your business and your
financial management. This is not a criticism,
Helen and I heard these words
at a regional RE/MAX meeting we attended early in our
RE/MAX Affiliation. We
were on the fence for attending the function, we were very limited
in cash,
and our time was even more limited. We made the choice to attend the
meeting.
At the function, one person stood up and said the words “If you
don’t have the time or
money to attend these educational functions, this is
all the more reason you MUST attend
these educational functions so you can
learn how to better control your time, finances and
most importantly, YOUR
LIFE”. If you need motivation or have questions about this
function, please
talk to anyone who has attended, and find out just how powerful these a
nnual
opportunities are to those who attend. This year, over 12,000 RE/MAX
Associates
from around the world are expected to be in attendance. For more
information, log onto
MainStreet and click on “Convention and Events”.
Please Note: EDR Travel has
already sold out of rooms at the MGM, host hotel, but Loni
Colvin has an EXTRA
room available for someone willing to move quickly, and Angie Gardner
is still
looking for a room mate.
CONGRATULATIONS TO JULIE EMERY OF LONG AND FOSTER
Julie Emery was the winner
of our last Office Update issue contest question. The prize, a $50
gift
certificate to the Bone Fish Grille. The question was:
The
current litigation between the National Association of REALTORS (NAR),
Department of
Justice (DOJ) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) INVOLVES ALL OF
US.
Depending upon
the outcome of this case, the very basis of our industry may
very well change over the coming
years! The DOJ and the FTC are hosting a
public workshop on this issue on Tuesday,
October 25.
What
title/name has been assigned to this workshop?
What is
NAR asking you to do to help protect YOUR industry?
What is
the final deadline date that NAR and the FTC will be accepting your input on
this issue?
This is
more than a contest, NAR NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT, WE ALL NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
The
first person to respond with the correct answer will receive a $50 Gift
Certificate to Bone Fish
Grill!!!
Julie was the first person
to answer the question correctly! Congratulations!! Look for future contest
questions for your chance to win a prize!!
YOUR
LIFE, YOUR BUSINESS, YOUR WAY, with a little help from
Brian Buffini!!!
Formerly known as our
“Coaching Hall of Fame” events, this year these unequaled training events
will
be expanded and include additional topics. To this end, RE/MAX International
has changed the
title to these events to “Your Life, Your Business, Your
Way”. Our first installment was on
January 10, 2006 and featured finance
expert, Jean Chatzky, a Money
magazine monthly columnist
and regular contributor to NBC's "Today Show."
The next scheduled event will kick off at 6:30pm
at the Holiday Inn in
Warrenton, on February 14. If you don’t come for your own education and
satisfaction, consider that you will at least take away a few nuggets of
information that you may
offer to your customers, clients or even your family
members in their financial affairs. The little
nugget of information you can
pass along to someone else may be the difference between losing
a potential
sale or developing a “client for life”. Remember, this is a people business,
and it is the
little things that matter the most.
You will want to go ahead
and mark your calendar for this next installment!
Brian Buffini
will be our speaker on the February 14th installment of “Your Life,
Your Business, Your Way”
If you are planning on
attending this event,
please RSVP to
Donna, (540)341-1408, by
high noon February 6th!
100 DAYS
TO GREATNESS
Our first classes are well
under way in our “100 Days to Greatness” mentor/trainer program.
This program
is an exceptional opportunity to start and/or expand your business. Even if
you have been in this industry for years, this program will help you weather
the upcoming
market changes. Remember our words about the market conditions;
we are transitioning
from a clearly “Seller’s” market to a more “normal”
market. It is a great time to be
productive and profitable in your real
estate endeavors. The sign up deadline for the
February installment is
here!
Another idea for Team
Leaders – Consider having your team members participate in the
100 Days to
Greatness Mentor program. The more productive they are, the better you will
both do, and the training is left to the professionals. The proof is in the
pudding for those
that are actually following and participating in the
program!!!
For more information, please
see one of our Mentor/Trainer Team Members – Susan Sandlin,
Joyce Carter, or
Jan Wilcox.
SIGN
ORDINANCE REMINDER
Please remember the Fauquier
County Sign Ordinance, NO SIGNS except the one sign in
front of the house you
have for sale or rent. This means NO POINTER SIGNS, INCLUDING
OPEN HOUSE
SIGNS, unless you have obtained a permit from the Fauquier County Zoning
office. Currently, the Assistant Zoning Administrator, Todd Benson, is
working with the
leadership of GPAAR to draft some legislation that would
permit some temporary open house
directional signs, BUT THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED
AT THIS TIME. If you have specific
questions about what is allowed or not
with respect to signs, call the Zoning Office in the
jurisdiction in which you
want to place signs. Please also remember that in no case is any
type of
signage allowed in a highway right-of-way.
OTHER
QUICK ANNOUNCEMENTS
WEEKLY
CONTRACT/BROKERAGE ROUNDTABLE
– By popular demand, we are hosting
our weekly contract/brokerage roundtable
meetings on Thursday mornings at 10am. These
contract roundtables have proven
to be real great educational and eye opening opportunities.
The location of
the roundtable is alternating between Manassas and Warrenton. Please see
the
events calendar, or speak with Donna or Marilyn for meeting locations.
FINANCIAL
ROUND TABLE
– Our office financial roundtable was a huge success. We have
set two more
installments of this roundtable over 2006. The first will be on April 6th
and the
second, on October 26th. Please watch the office events
calendar for event locations.
ANNUAL
“HOLIDAY PARTY”
– It has taken years of “experience” to encourage us to move
our annual
Christmas gathering to its current time of the year, but mark your calendar
for our
2005 event. We have scheduled dinner on the Dandy for the evening of
April 1, 2006! The
evening will offer a great night navigating the Potomac
River, complete with dinner and dancing
and transportation. Keep on the
lookout for your invitation to this annual event.
CALL FOR
SPONSORS
– We are currently interviewing potential sponsor candidates for the
2006
CALENDAR YEAR OF EVENTS. Sponsorship opportunities include preferential
advertising
in our Handbook, Speaking opportunities at some of our monthly
“Your Life, Your Business, Your
Way” events, private invitations to our office
events including the Annual, Christmas in April aboard
the Dandy, Fall
Charlestown Agent Appreciation Night at the Races, and inclusion in some of
our
office roundtables. If there are any businesses that you feel would
benefit from this opportunity,
please let us know.
AND NOW,
THE CONTEST

survey,
buyers ranked what qualities they wanted in their agent. The first person to
e-mail the
following, in the correct ranked order, to

$50 Bone Fish Grill
